One of my favorite things about being back in Idaho is being able to take my children to places of my childhood memories. Growing up in Rigby, we definitely spent our fair share of time at Rigby Lake. It has been many years since I have had the opportunity to visit. I was impressed with the improvements that have been made.
We set up our beach camp for the day around 11am. This children wasted no time getting in the water.
My mom was able to share this day with us. She always steals the light when she is around these kids just love her so much. Not to mention she seems to have toys that are just cooler than the toys that we have.
We also got to enjoy the company of Brad, who had recently moved in with us. He brought an awesome playlist that we were able to rock out to. Interesting factoid, my mother does not like the sound of the 80's. I was shocked...not sure how I hadn't noticed that before.
I love watching my children explore.
We were having a lot of great conversation.
Penny is not really a fan of the water. She has not quite mastered the life jacket situation and tends to panic easily.
She does have some great sandcastle making skills.
New docks and a slide are some of the in water improvements that I noticed at Rigby Lake. Check out the following action shots of Jaxson. He was having a blast.
This is almost like doing squats- Jaxson
We spent a good few hours looking for rocks. I love looking at rocks and I find it absolutely delightful when my children show interest in what I love. We found a rock that was a beautiful shade of robins egg blue. (Who knows where I put it though...sorry mom)!
It was a great experience looking for rocks. We dumped half the rocks back into the lake-Jaxson
Another improvement is the availability of kayak and paddle board rentals. Every time I see a paddle board I always tell myself that I want to eventually do that. Jaxson, Andrew and I had a great time figuring out the paddle board. This is definitely an activity that I would like to invest in for our family.
I enjoyed walking around the island while Joni paddle boarded. This activity was my favorite part of the day- Andrew
This was my favorite moment. I mostly just liked being able to hang out with my dad -Jaxson
The girls got their father to take them to the park play structure. This is yet another improved feature at Rigby Lake. Emilee recently learned how to do the monkey bars by herself and she wanted to give these ones a try as well. She was very proud of herself. The helicopter mother in me really struggled letting her be independent on those bars.
Alas, I remain a work in progress.
We ate a delicious lunch that attracted many bees. I had given in and finally bought that mondo container of cheese puffs. It is always funny to me how such simple things mean so much to my kids. I bought too many treats, as usual, but that is a quality that isn't going anywhere.
