My mom passed away late this afternoon. Watching someone come to the end of a battle with cancer is horrible and I am so relieved she is no longer suffering. I will miss her and I will love her forever. This phrase has been playing in my head for weeks, "Oh how she loved the little children." Not sure if that's from somewhere or if I made it up, but it is true of my mom, whether they were her children, her grandchildren, her nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, the countless children she cared for over more than 40 years, or any children she would just meet randomly. Oh how she loved them all.
Amanda Packard Bennett
This has been one on the most difficult days of my life. We said goodbye to my dear, sweet Mom today as she left us to return to our Father in Heaven. My heart aches a little for missing her, but also rejoices in knowing that she is free from the pain and was welcomed home by her 3 children waiting there. There is so much comfort in knowing that this is not the end, but that we will meet again! Thank you all for the prayers and words of love over the past few weeks.

What a beautiful, peaceful day. It wad full of family, friends, memories, tears, and laughter- all in remembering and honoring my incredible mother!!!!

My dear sweet mother has graduated this life for one far greater. She passed away at her home in Pocatello ID at 452 local time. She was
surrounded by my two living sisters, my father and two of her sisters as well as countless angels. I am grateful that she is no longer in grasp of cancer
and subject to the horrid pains that it causes.
At this time a verse from our hymn book has been playing in my mind. "how great thou art" verse 4: when Christ shall come, with shout of acclimation, and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration and proclaim, my god how great thou art. Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee, how great thou art!

Dear Aunt Lori, I found this picture of you and me and Uncle Ric from when I was very small, and I just wanted to thank you for your loving, constant presence in my life. What a beautiful example you have been to me, of faith and compassion and "doing small things with great love." I am blessed to be your niece. I love you.

We laid the kid's wonderful grandmother, Nana Lori, to rest yesterday. She is very much missed. I can take some solace that she is reunited with Emily.

At 0852 my time 26 Jan 2015. My mother in-law, Lori Packard passed away. To say she loved children would be accurate, but what's even more amazing is how much the children loved her. Children, even though she was a complete stranger, instantly trusted her.
She is already missed. But Now she gets to spend time with her other three children.
Rest in Peace

I Love You with all my heart!!
My dear Aunt Lori has passed away at much too young an age. She was an inspiring role model as a selfless caretaker for all around her. She will be missed along with my cousin Emily and Papa Packard. Life is precious, take advantage of the present to say and do what matters most.

Beautiful day with my family to celebrate the life of my Aunt Lori. My cousin's son Jaxson gave this heartfelt memorial: "My Nana Lori was the best Nana in the world. She was kind. She was gentle. She made me laugh." Many people spoke about Lori's compassion, love for family, and giving nature. It was so good to be with my cousins and family today. All of this love is part of her legacy

We are home after a quick trip to Pocatello for the funeral of my lovely sister-in-law, Lori Packard, who left the planet far too soon. Brother Ric gave a wonderful synopsis of her life, and we had a glorious time re-connecting with our and Lori's relations. The Cousins (at least six of them) got to be together for what has become a rare occasion; let's hope in the future it's not only the funerals that bring us together!

I love you, Lori. You are my dear friend and you are faithful and strong and have endured to the end. I am just so sad that you have had so much to endure. Ric, I am so, so sorry for what is coming. I know Lori will have a glorious reunion with her family, Emily, Joseph and Maggie's twin, but you will suffer yet another loss. I'm glad you made the move to Idaho under the circumstances. I'm also happy to know you have been able to travel together. Both of you, your faith and example have made my faith stronger. Thank you for your valuable friendship. I love you dearly. God be with you. May He pour out His spirit in abundance at this time.

Ric and the Packard family, we mourn with you and feel blessed to have known Lori. We pray for you. Because words fail me, let me borrow comforting words from President Gordon B. Hinckley:
"What is this thing that men call death, this quiet passing in the night?
’Tis not the end but genesis of better worlds and greater light.
O God, touch Thou my aching heart and calm my troubled, haunting fears.
Let hope and faith, transcendent, pure, give strength and peace beyond my tears.
There is no death, but only change, with recompense for vict’ry won.
The gift of Him who loved all men, the Son of God, the Holy One"
Joel Randolph
Dear Ric and family - You have been in my heart and prayers and I just felt I needed to share a few thoughts. Lori was one of my first visiting teaching companions when I was so new to the church. She was/is a wonderful example of kindness and compassion. That is what I see in her eyes in all of the photos of her.
She reminds me of my favorite flower - the tulip. Elegant, graceful and without extraneous "stuff". But I also remember her humor. Who can ever forget her announcement when our ward split and joined with part of the Ridgefield Ward at that "getting to know you" Sunday school when Lori confessed to having a secret crush on our just called Bishop Cliff Nielson when they were in high school! I will miss her even though we've been separated by miles and years. And finally, I love that Lori's priorities were so clear... she KNEW she was a daughter of God, a wife, mother and friend. And she did not define herself by circumstance. I only hope I can be even a fraction of the person she is. Love to you all.

I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze
and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength,
and I stand and watch until at last she hangs
like a speck of white cloud
just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says,
"There she goes!"
Gone where?
Gone from my sight . . . that is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar
as she was when she left my side
and just as able to bear her load of living freight
to the place of destination.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at the moment
when someone at my side says,
"There she goes!"
there are other eyes watching her coming . . .
and other voices ready to take up the glad shout . . .
"Here she comes! " ~Henry Van Dyke
May you find peace and comfort in your loss and so much joy in a life well lived.

I've been thinking about you & your family all day.I can only imagine the amount of love the Savior has for each of you. I know I have felt such a small portion of his love and it has been overwhelming at times when I have thought of you, your siblings, & your dad.
I'm so grateful for the time your mom has had on this Earth to bless us all. I can't help but smile when I think about playing at your house with Andrew & having joy school with your mom.
I always loved when it was her turn to teach. She was always so good at making us feel important, like we REALLY mattered. I can only imagine how many other children have the same memories of her.
You are all in my continued thoughts & prayers.

I was 15 when my family moved to Vancouver, WA. There I instantly made friends. One of these friends was Emily. She told me that she had been praying that a girl her age would move into the ward. Emily and I hit it off very easily and quickly. Oh, the good times we had! As the years went by, we grew apart, because we were very different, but we were always close. I remember Emily calling me to chat when I was newly married. She would call every few months and we could pick up our conversations as if we hadn't spent any time apart. She told me she felt like we were bosom buddies. I remember her calling me when we we're about 25 and she gave me the sad news that she had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. It was shocking and sad. She stayed positive through her cancer trial, but 5 years later she passed away at the young age of 30. I spoke with her on the phone a few weeks before she passed. That conversation remains a tender and precious memory to me.
Tonight, Emily's sweet mother Lori Kay Densley- Packard passed away. She was always so sweet to me. She gave me a job at the day care she owned when I was in college. She was a great mother to Emily. And a great friend to me! I love you Packard family! My thoughts and prayers are with you!
To Lori and Emily, I love you and I can't wait to give you big hugs and have long, girlfriend chats with you in the next life! Love you forever!

My heart feels heavy tonight. I've processed the good news of my dear friend, Clara Grange, being healed from her cancer treatments. Then to receive the news of another dear friend, Lori Kay Densley- Packard, whose cancer "exploded" in her body and being given weeks to live. My aunt's pending graduation from this life. .. puts everything in perspective of our purpose on this earth. I'm grateful for my knowledge of eternity and repentance and enduring to the end. Simplifying my life sounds really good.

Thanks for your shining examples of faith and determination. Just finished reading an article in this month's Ensign - I thought of you both ... Dear Ric & Family,
Your family holds such a sacred place in our hearts and we send our love and heart felt condolences your way. We are saddened by your loss but know that there will be a joyful reunion in the eternities. The beauty of the gospel is knowing that marriage is not for this life only but because of temple vows, it is forever. May your family be comforted by the Lord at this time.

My children attended Teddy Bear from 1992-1995 & as I look back those were the most enjoyable years for my children as well as myself while they were in attendance!
Lori had a wonderful gift that not to many people have, she genuinely loved & cared for all the children in her care throughout the years & had such wonderful patience, lots of patience!

Just want you to know our thoughts have been with you this week. You are such wonderful people and we have often wondered why your trials have been hard!

We wish we could be with you at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. We are so blessed to call Lori our friend. Everywhere she went, she left others better. Isn't that the purpose of life? She lived it well.

Dearest Ric, and Lori's family, I just today put Lori's # as a reference for a job here in Wa, and when I called to talk to her - she didn't have the same number so I was looking for her new number on Google and found this. I am so , so very sorry and feel deeply impacted to hear of her passing, as she was my Mentor and the best boss I have ever had in my life- She did so much for my Son and I - being a single divorced Mom-when I knew her as her employee at Teddy Bear Preschool in Van, helped us move, always gave me advice - turned into a close personal friend and as we both moved up to the Anacortes , Wa area, we saw eachother a few times, and meant to get together more often, and I think of her often in my day to day life. She was the best boss anybody could ever have and one of the best women I have ever, ever known. I know she will be bery sorely missed by so many, many people and I feel privelaged to have known her and been able to call her my friend. I am so saddened by her going, but know she wouldn't want us to be sad, just celebrate the woman that she was and her life and her spectacular sense of humor - I left my phone number with your funeral home - If someone could call me sometime, when you are ready? ,it would be nice to talk with her immediate fam- My love and heart going out to all her family , Love and hugs! I am the ex Mr Karen Densley. I met Lori only a couple of times in my life, but it was obvious that she loved her sister's and they loved her. I know that her life was far from easy, yet a reading of her obiturary shows how much she continued to contribute to all around her. Hopefully, her love of the Lord brings solace to you at this time.

I just recently learned of Lori's death....my oldest daughter (Shannon O'Connor) had Mr. Packard as a teacher and she was one of their daughters (Emily) best friends in high. There were many families in our Vancouver community (including us) that were touched by Lori, Ric and their children through her daycare, school, and church etc. Our loss is deep and our sympathy is heartfelt to the Packard family.

Words from Lori: Life is Good
Saw all my kids and grandkids. took pics of my old neighborhoods and Vincent Drug Store, reconnected with 3 friends, visited with my sisters(except Pat and Pete), inlaws and outlaws, enjoyed being a crazy-great auntie, realized that every ten years is not the way to stay connected to family, witnessed the last and youngest grandchild (of my parents) married in the Manti Temple, and made new friends that know old friends. Now, I'm back home with my honey, my one and only and life is good!!
For my sweet Amanda Packard Bennett, Cory Bennett, Maggie Liljenquist, Jake Liljenquist, and Andrew Joni Packard. Also know i love you always and forever and unconditionally~ Lori Packard
