Family Photos 2015

I am blessed to have a father with a talent in photography. He was able to capture the true essence of our family in a setting that brings back so many childhood memories. As I am sure is true with all families, getting a picture of five people with everyone in cooperation is an ordeal. The first picture that you see below is my favorite and the one we have chosen to display in our home. It will be displayed along with our two family mottos. Would you be interested to know that this picture was the very last one of our photo shoot?

Our family motto is very important to me. As a mother, it is my goal to raise my children knowing that I will always be there to pick them up, dust them off, and encourage them to dream again. I readily admit that I am anything but perfect yet I strive to create a space that allows them so feel safe to feel vulnerable. Safe to explore their feelings, their confusions, their hopes and dreams. Having these displayed in my home assists in grounding me on those days when I am imperfect.

These pictures captured the spirit of each one of my children perfectly. Who said that everyone needs to looks at the camera in order to have a good picture? The setting of this photo is the back of my parents barn. I think that it is absolutely perfect.

I did have to teach Andrew and the children about the feral cats who live around the barn. If you find a cat near my parents house, chances are it is a feral cat who will kill your nice cats while you are sleeping.

In this picture the girls are responding to a bird flying overhead. I love the magic in this picture. It reminds of the joy that can be found when we live in the moment.

If I recall correctly, I made us take the picture here even though my dad mentioned something about the lighting. Let this be proof he was right. I still love it but lighting does appear to play a crucial role.

The sight of this fence bring such comfort. Am I the only one who feels the nostalgia?
